Hello and welcome! My name is Alonzo and I am thirteen years old and from Mexico. My family and I live in a city called Cancún, a place you might have heard of. I am very excited to show you around my country. It is a pretty awesome place if I say so myself. Let’s go!

Fun Facts

Mexico is the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world. Thousands of years ago the Maya and Aztec civilizations occupied Mexico, building thriving empires and inventing many things, like pyramid-temples. They also made many discoveries in the fields of mathematics, astronomy, medicine, and theology

  • The capital of Mexico is Mexico City.

  • The population is over 111 million people! Ninety-seven percent of the people in Mexico speak Spanish.

  • The currency in Mexico is the peso. The peso was the first currency in the world to use the symbol “$,” even before the United States!

Corn and rice are the two main grains in any Mexican’s diet. Mexican food often has a combination of chilies, herbs, beans, tomatoes, or nopales (a type of vegetable). Beef, pork, and chicken are popular meats, and popular toppings are onion, garlic, avocado, and chili pepper.

Puebla
Founded in 1531, Puebla, in central Mexico, is the fifth-largest city in the country with over 2 million inhabitants. Its location, halfway between the port of Veracruz and Mexico City, made it an important city.

Regarded as the marlin sport fishing capital of the world, Los Cabos is a top tourist destination in Mexico due to its beautiful resort beaches, excellent scuba diving, whale watching experiences, and lively party scene.

Chichen Itza.png

Chichen Itza
Situated in the Yucatan Peninsula, Chichen Itza is the most famous, most visited, and most impressive of the country’s many Mayan sites. The famous landmark is the Pyramid of Kukulcan – or El Castillo.
